| Capela de Nosa Señora da Guía |
Carreira |
|
It is an old small chapel erected on a rised land, little steep but enough to stand out amongst the scattered houses joint in Carreira. The building date is unknown but it may be the survival of a Middle Age shrine. There are some legends about its origin: one of them tells a group of sailors found a image of the Virgin in the sea and when they came home they founded the church. Other people claim that A Guía (the guide) refers to guiding and protection for seamen. Romeria is celebrated on Whitsuntide Mondays. Masonry style has faded a bit because of some enlargements at the beginning of the 20th century. |
