This museum is found at the lower floor of Artes Recreational Centre, in Sego place. The original idea for the museum came out from one of the Recreational Centre presidents, keen on collecting antiques. He made his neighours involve themselves into this issue until they gathered a collection worth to be displayed, with restored and classified items. This happened in 1998 when two exhibition rooms were opened, using the space of an old garage.

The required arrangement to get the current status of Museum started in June 2002. It has become now a very interesting historic-cultural spot in the borough. 600 pieces from diverse use and times brings us back to old times we must keep fresh in our memories. 50 years old at least is the condition the objects must fulfil to be a part of the collection. The exhibition is divided into some theme blocks: "Daily Life" -items used in lareiras (kitchen place to set fire and family and neighbours gathered to sit and chat), accesories such as watches, lighters, flasks and technological advances; "Music", specially devoted to the gaiteiro (piper) Paco do Monte, who reached great fame in spite of lacking of music studies; "Countryside", a space focused on the importance of the wagon, vital in galician life along many generations, and, last but not least, it also can be found pieces related to different trades (carpenter, shoemakers, stone-craftmen...) and to religion or literature.

CThere is a lot of funny items: a coin from the Roman Republic -the oldest thing, 22 centuries old-; the Paco do Monte´s pipe (the distinguished popular piper at the middle of 20th century); the first stamps in Riveira envelopes; or a huge stone-craftman machine that was used as a crane thanks to a pulley system.

To reach the Etnographic Museum must divert from main road crossing Artes (connecting Riveira to that parish and to Olveira and Corrubedo) on a junction where Recreational Centre is indicated on the right hand side. The facilities include parking area.

Right in Artes parish´s heart, at Outeiro place, it is found this Museum, singular and pioneer throughout Spain because of being orientated to the specific engraving technique, back from 15th century to the latest techniques, based on digital stands. The hall opened its doors in October 2001 and diverse collections from varied artists have been displayed in it. Some of the exhibitions are owned by the Fundación Museo del Gravado a la Estampa Digital (Engraving to Digital Print Museum Foundation), and some others are purchased by temporary granting or by deals with different institutions -Administration, universities, other museums and foundations. In total the Foundation has more than 8000 workpieces, most of them kept in Madrid Foundation seat.

The recently erected building is valuable itself. The project from the architect Julián Arenas Airito shows a useful building, according to the natural environment in which it is placed. It maintains a subtle balance between grand masses and hollows on the outer look. Light, walls and empty spaces are harmonically combined indoors. Three floors are devoted to exhibitions; basement hosts the rest of museum services: events room, offices and archives, toilets...

To access must divert on the left, going past Olveira on the road connecting Riveira to Corrubedo; Church and Hotel Rural A Rectoral are indicated. Beside that hotel the Museum appears.

Tuesday to saturday; 10.30 to 13.30 and 16.00 to 19.00.

Sundays and holidays, 16.30 to 19.30.

Summertime (July and August): 10.30 to 13.30 and 17.30 to 20.30.

Ticket: 2,40 €. Younger than 12 and older than 65: free.
