We must admit it is not the classical touristic doing, but any person may find him/herself at the situation of having to look for an area to go shopping to, whatever the reason to be. In Riveira, the point where to satisfy this sort of whishes is in Padín. At the entrance of the city centre it appears: the mall known as Haley has been meaning since its opening, back in 1998´s spring, a social point of encounter. Beside the A Coruña avenue, it has a large parking area - both outdoors and underground. In the mall, we find a large hypermarket, diverse premises, a café-restaurant and a three-room cinema. As in big cities, the mall is an area for entertaining and leisure which makes it a place for people gatherings. Putting this area aside, the rest of shops is very scattered. We only could point out certain zones displaying quite a lot of premises and services; they are the City Hall Square surroundings, Malecón avenue or some main streets in the town, such as Rosalia de Castro, General Franco or Miguel Rodríguez Bautista.

Gastronomy in Galicia is something very important, and so it is in Riveira. Therefore, it is easy to guess which is one of the tactics leisure premises use to attract customers: the well-known tapas. Tapeo is a deep and long tradition. Either at vermouth-time or at evenings, the best choice is a good drink served with a solid good-cooked tapa. Going from the North to the South along the Riveira frontsea, we find in the first place the snack-bars and pavement-cafés of García Bayon Park, which gives the chance to let the kids play in its playground. Along the wide promenade of Malecon, possibilities grows, and we will stop more than once for sure. Near Malecon, in Praza de Vigo and its pedestrian surroundings, we can go into many different places where to be surprised and to try the appetizers they serve us. To put the end in this trip-glance, we shall go to the Auditorium Hall surroundings, at Bandourrio; we find here some leisure good at making tasty tapas, although this zone stands out mostly because of its environment at night.

The best zones to go clubbing are the same as to go having tapas: García Bayón, Malecón... specially at early night. For those who like staying up for longer time, they will be pleased in Praza de Vigo and the adjoining street: General Espartero. The night stretches up until dawn in the area around the Auditorium Hall, where pubs, great music and cheerful mood are plentiful.
